Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, or Bloggiversary!!!! However you want to put it, I officially made it through my first year blogging. On December 2nd of 2012 I wrote my first article about my excitement over the upcoming All Star cheer season. Boy I had no idea where that first post would take me. Cheer Mama Drama was simply a creative way for me to document my life as a cheer mom, I had no idea the path it would take me down. I have met so many people and been given so many opportunities I would have never been blessed with if it were not for my blog.
Who knew by writing an article about Cheerlebrities I was opening a door to a crazy new venture. I don’t know how Cindy Villarreal, CEO of Cheer Channel, happened upon my little blog, but I am so thankful she did. This first contact started a relationship that would turn into an offer to host a first of it’s kind cheer parent vlog. The next thing I knew, I was all over the internet as Cheer Mama Drama the host of Cheer Channel’s Cheer Up. That is mind blowing. I am still learning the ropes of being a video journalist/ host, but I wake up everyday knowing I am truly blessed. I am so thankful for Cindy, Lance, and Doug, my Cheer Up team, they have been great to work with and are truly miracle workers. How else would a cheer mom from GA be able to take YouTube by storm. You will all forever have my gratitude.
I cannot forget about all the cool places I have been and the even cooler people I have met thanks to blogging. I have been everywhere from the Atlanta Braves games to Disney World thanks to the social media world. My sister -in-law, Angela from About A Mom, has been my mentor and has given me some very cool opportunities. She brought me along to Disney’s Social Media Mom’s Celebration at Disney World this past May. Being exposed to the ideas of all these amazing women truly inspired me. I came home ready to make my blog a success. Even though I officially started my blog in December I would say May is when I started taking my new pass time quite seriously. Since then I have attended a couple conferences and a few media events that further increased my passion. Along the way I have met some awesome women that have been nothing, but encouraging. Joyce, Megan, Liz, and Karen, you ladies have been so sweet and opened up your circle to this newbie. You have my utmost respect.
I am excited to see where year number two leads. There is so much to learn everyday. New opportunities are popping up all the time. I never thought my blogging would be a new career opp, but who knows. Wish me luck.
